Hidden five flights up in Diehl Hall, the Wangensteen library is not exactly accessible. Nor is it meant to be, as it is a working academic library with offices and teaching staff working in it. However, any bibliophile worth their salt should seek out this excellent collection which contains thousands of rare and old books, mostly related to botany and medicine. The books, many of which are displayed open in glass cases, show the progression of human knowledge (and ignorance) of health and the natural world. A rare and unique collection. Note: As of Dec. 2nd 2019, visitors are now required to get a guest pass. More information here. Wangensteen Library 505 Essex St SE #568 Minneapolis, MN 55455
