The new Upper Yahara River Trail in DeForest is a lovely, smooth paved trail that follows the meandering Yahara River. Walk, canoe, fish or bike while enjoying glimpses of water, wild birds and a variety of native plants. Due to the smooth, even quality of the pavement and bridges, this trail is particularly good for those in wheelchairs, baby strollers and those who cannot handle steeper terrain. The first quarter mile or so of the trail is a bit noisy, due to the highway. The traffic sounds soon falls away as the trail turns away from the road into peaceful woods and bridge-covered streams.
