Located on the Capital Square, right at the top of State Street, the State Historical Museum covers the whole of Wisconsin history. From information on the native people to recent politics, there are displays and displays covering four floors. The main first floor gallery houses a changing show, along with a gift shop. Other galleries show recreations of native-American homes and clothing, clothing and tools brought by early settlers, photos of a changing Wisconsin and even a Wisconsin tavern, complete with mounted deer head. Check hours before visiting; they are not not open on Sundays.
