The Rudolph Grotto was clearly been built as a labor of love. Every bit of its extensive grounds are lovingly decorated. The grotto was built by Father Philip Wagner, who promised the Virgin Mary he would build a shrine if his health was restored. Let’s hope the Lady wasn’t hoping for marble and gold. The Grotto is decorated by bits and bobs brought by members of the parish and neighbors – shells, pretty rocks, broken pottery and what looks like lite-brite lights. Whatever your (non)religious beliefs, the Grotto was clearly built with love and devotion with the help of a supportive community.
