Imagine if Disney’s Imagineers came up with a cheesy, but pretty, Dutch village to add to Epcot…then accidentally left it in a parking lot in Michigan. Nelis’ Dutch Village is a tiny fantasy of a lost (and probably partially imaginary) Dutch past. While some of the displays are traditional – information on farming, crafts, foods – I’m guessing other things (the llamas) are not wholly representational. But who cares? It’s silly, fun, colorful and they allow dogs. Pat animals, listen to the calliope play ABBA, eat bizarre licorice and watch the staff stomp around in wooden clogs. Good fun and worth a stop.
