Just south of Wisconsin Dells, Mirror Lake State Park is a peaceful oasis. The rocky, winding trails over sandstone formations, between cliffs and along a meandering stream are a good hike any time of the year – winter included. Come summer, rent or bring a canoe and wander. Both sides of the lake have numerous inlets and sandy beaches (some on private property), hanging trees to provide shade and little offshoot streams. The lake ends to the north at a damn. To the south, the lake opens up and is wider and is very reed-filled. Private homes and rental cabins dot the side streams. These shallow algae-covered inlets are pleasant, quiet break from the busier main lake.
