The University of Minnesota’s Landscape Arboretum is a short drive from Minneapolis. With its more rural location, the Arboretum has the opportunity to spread and sprawl in a highly satisfactory manner. At over 1100 acres, plan to spend at least half a day exploring this glorious garden. Gardens include:
- Annual Garden
- Daylily and Chrysanthemum Walk
- Fern Walk
- Hosta Glade
- Iris Garden
- Japanese Garden
- Kitchen Herb Garden
- Lily and Dahlia Collection
- Maze Garden
- Ornamental Grass Collection
- Peony Walk
- Perennial Garden
- Rhododendron Garden
- Rose Gardens
- Sensory Garden
- Spiegel Entrance Garden
- Macmillan Terrace Garden
- Woodland-Azalea Garden
Not to mention terraces, greenhouses, a large sculpture garden, a gift shop and excellent cafe. Not up to schlepping that far? Take the tram for the three mile road tour and see it all without breaking a sweat.
