One of the bibles of road-tripping in southern Wisconsin is the book Oddball Wisconsin. Our copy was rather out of date when we tried to visit the sculpture garden of Lester Schwartz near Green Lake. Not finding any signs, but at the correct address, we called the number listed in the book. A surprised voice answered. Schwartz, a prolific sculpture, had died and his daughter was in town cleaning up the house. She told us we were welcome to wander the yard. The pieces were fantastic, even though the yard was very over-grown. I have no idea what has become of the property, but I find it terribly sad to see it gone to waste.
