There are actually two entrances to the Dells of the Wisconsin River – north and south. The north entrance is right down from the now boarded-up entrance to Witches Gulch. There are some lovely trails that wind around through pine woods, though little of the iconic sandstone visible here.

The south entrance, with the Chapel Gorge Trail, leads to a small, hidden beach. This is one of the few locations where you can reach a public beach in the Dells area. The trail is a good mile or so and hilly in spots. Unfortunately, the beach itself is very difficult to reach by some very steep stone steps. It is also very popular with boaters and on a sunny day, packed thick with visitors.
