The Dells of the Eau Claire River State Natural Area is an amazing parcel of land, hidden from view. The trail from the parking lot winds through woods, which soon turn into low, boggy areas (very probably buggy in warm weather). As the trail climbs, large chunks of rock litter the woods. The trail crosses the fast-moving Wisconsin River on a massive wooden footbridge and continues, past increasingly high and fantastic rock walls. The main portion of the trail ends at some gorgeous falls. Cross the road to continue another short section, leading back to the lot. Ever-changing scenery and easily hiked in an hour or two. Well worth the schlep!
