To reach the Cherokee Marsh North Unit, take Sherman Avenue and head north. The road will pass the Cherokee Golf Course and eventually turn into a gravel road. Follow this road until you reach the parking lot. There are 3.5 miles of trails in the north unit, winding through both wooded and prairie sections. Parts of the trail border the marsh and Yahara River. A number of small ponds create habitat for wildlife and there are a few overlook stands. Because of the ponds, the area can be quite mosquito-ridden. Sadly, dogs not allowed.
